Spearing the Sparrow
a primitive but effective attack on your opponents 1c pawn
if used correctly can be devastating to your opponent.

Re: Spearing the Sparrow
What would you do if gote responded to your ignoring his move by capturing your pawn instead of capturing your knight?
Re: Spearing the Sparrow
go to the position in the vid with this move
1.white:2d
2.black:1d
2.1d
3.lancer 1d
3.pawn drop on 1c
4.lance takes pawn on 1c
4.knight takes lance on 1c
5.knight takes knight on 1c
5.lance takes knight on 1c
6.bishop takes pawn on 2d check
and then you are in the same resulting position again
1.white:2d
2.black:1d
2.1d
3.lancer 1d
3.pawn drop on 1c
4.lance takes pawn on 1c
4.knight takes lance on 1c
5.knight takes knight on 1c

6.bishop takes pawn on 2d check

Re: Spearing the Sparrow
Check the name again or ask Takodori/Hidetchi san. I'm still pretty sure that I'm right.
Re: Spearing the Sparrow
Yeah, it's Spearing the Sparrow.
But I'm curious where you got 'spearhead sparrow' from. Was there any book or website that told you 'spearhead'?
It's interesting that 'spearhead sparrow' sounds like the sparrow is the attacker, while in 'spearing the sparrow', which is the correct one, sparrow is the attackee :-)

Re: Spearing the Sparrow
weird why i think its called the spearhead sparrow.
to me it makes sense to me i guess because you are spearheading into your opponent.
