HAMShogi & JapaneseChess.Org (Online, vs. AI)
HAMShogi and JapaneseChess.Org are two website where you can play shogi online.
HAMShogi is by far harder and more challenging than JapaneseChess.Org, and also available in many ways, from handicaps to normal games. You're essentially playing against an AI hamster. The website itself is in Japanese, but there is a page with English instructions that explains how HAMShogi works. Below are the links:
HAMShogi: http://hozo.hp.infoseek.co.jp/shogi/
Instruction Page: http://shogi-shack.net/playhamshogi.aspx
JapaneseChess.Org is much easier, since the AI only thinks about 1 move to 2 moves ahead, and it's really good for the very beginners to play, but after awhile, that's just too easy and your skill may even go backwards. Anyways, I'll post a link for JapaneseChess.org

Actually, for JapaneseChess.Org, yeah. HAMShogi is probably harder than some players online, though.

I was curious, since JapaneseChess has an option to go first, so I had these two AI's play against each other. This video is the result. Here is the kifu:
