[HIDETCHI-san's Video Series] How to Play Shogi
HIDETCHI-san from YouTube has made the most definite and clear videos about how to play the game shogi, teaching you all the way from step 1. In this video series, you not only will learn how to play the game and how each piece moves, but about the game, the board, the pieces, other games played with a shogi set, other shogi variations and even how to put pieces down on the board and make that beautiful, crisp sound.
This video series is absolutely fabulous and extremely in depth of the shogi game, so to anyone who's new to the 81-Square Universe (the shogi game), watching these videos are a must, since they are so phenomenal.

Subtitles Project for "How to play Shogi"
<<< Subtitles Project for "How to play Shogi" >>>
In order to promote shogi more to the world, I'm working on making subtitles for my "How to play Shogi" series, as to which, I would like to ask you for your cooperation. If you can translate my English subtitles into any other language, please help me by doing that. :-)
Here's how it works:
1. Check the table here to see which subtitles are not available yet.
TABLE
2. Mark the cell of the subtitles you're gonna make so that it shows that you're working on it, which will avoid anyone else working on the same thing. If there's no column for the language you're gonna make, just add another column for it. (You CAN overwrite this table file)
3. See the available English subtitles from the links below and translate them. You CANNOT overwrite these files, so copy the whole text to your PC first, and then make the translated version.
4. After it's made, please send me the translated file. (checkmate.1107@nifty.com) Also tell me whether you want your name or nickname to be shown in the beginning of the subtitles, such as "subtitles made by ****", in English or maybe in the translated language. (Or you can put it in the text by yourself. The timing code in the text is easy to understand.) Then I'll upload the file to the corresponding youtube video asap. After that I'll update the table so that it shows that the subtitles file is now available. (You don't have to update the table yourself this time).
5. The original English subtitles are going to be made by me first, so that it'll be easier to translate into any other language. So as soon as the English version is made, you can start working on it. However, if you're even capable of making the original subtitles (time-synchronized SUB file) yourself without my original file, and kind enough to do the relatively harder work, of course I appreciate if you start making it without waiting for my original file.
Here are the links for the original English files.

This is awesome. I see that there's a good number of Polish translations completed.
Re: [HIDETCHI-san's Video Series] How to Play Shogi
Hum, hum, hum..... I should make new subtitles ^^"
I haven't got a lot of motivation in last months (not many new polish shogi players), but we want to start a shogi promotion project in Poland, so making new subtitles is good idea...

By the way Hidetchi-san, your Top Menu file is inaccessible. Probably a permissions issue. Just a heads up.

Re: [HIDETCHI-san's Video Series] How to Play Shogi
Maybe you can do Traditional Chinese while I do Simplified since I'm pretty sure in Hong Kong, you use Traditional.
Re: [HIDETCHI-san's Video Series] How to Play Shogi
@Kaiwan: First, I answer to your question via takodori-san to me here. Yes, I can handle both 繁體字 and 简体字 on my PC.
@Kaiwan & xDAZZE: I don't know well about Chinese language, but am I wrong in understanding that "fantizi or jiantizi" are just a matter of simple transformation? I mean, I thought basically the words are the same between main land and HK. (except for pronounciation, and fanti/jianti) Like, 飛車/飞车, 龍馬/龙马. If so, wouldn't it be better that for example one of you do both traditional and simplified for lesson#1 and the other do both tradiational and simplified for lesson#2, than one of you doing traditional and the other doing simplified for both lesson#1 ?

Re: [HIDETCHI-san's Video Series] How to Play Shogi
@ Hidetchi-san: My computer cannot type Fantizi. By the way, how did you know some Jiantizi :O
And also, HOW & WHERE do I do the translations? :\

Re: [HIDETCHI-san's Video Series] How to Play Shogi
@xDAZZE: It seems there are some free online web tools that can transform between traditional and simplifed. I believe Kaiwan knows about it better than me.
Re: [HIDETCHI-san's Video Series] How to Play Shogi
I can probably find out.
By the way, just wondering (completely off-topic), what do you do for a living? xD Because you speak English extremely fluently and well, plus you seem to know some other foreign languages as well.

Re: [HIDETCHI-san's Video Series] How to Play Shogi
Well he did graduate from Toudai so his English has to be decent to even get into the University.
Re: [HIDETCHI-san's Video Series] How to Play Shogi
I don't speak French fluently, but I might be able to help out with the French subtitles. I'll see if I can get one of my French-speaking friends to help me make them.
Re: [HIDETCHI-san's Video Series] How to Play Shogi
I posted the informaiton on Forum Shogi France. Hope some French will respond.

Re: [HIDETCHI-san's Video Series] How to Play Shogi
Thanks for posting that, Takodori. It would be better for a better French speaker to translate than me, since I have to use a dictionary for translations.
[HIDETCHI-san's Video Series] How to Play Shogi

Re: [HIDETCHI-san's Video Series] How to Play Shogi
Polish translation looks poor to me. "Knight" in Lesson#2 is translated as "kon" (lit. "horse") which is a very old and so unprofessional term for its chess equivalent. In chess we use "skoczek" (lit. "jumper") and I think "skoczek" is a better term.
And let's not forget that we have "horse" (馬, uma) for promoted bishop in the Japanese shogi. So Hidetchi, I think we need a consult here.
